tired tired.....

During my last semester in my uni, I took up this course called Operation and Construction Management. I didn't thought that I would actually one day implement this, as I thought I would be heading towards the designing line of my field. Apparently not.

Currently, my position in Petronas is Installation Engineer, which many, including me would think that there would be many designing phase that I would have to go through. That is not what it seems. I am currently an Installation Engineer doing Underwater Services. To those who do not understand what I'm saying, it's perfectly fine, because it is very technical.

Basically, what it means is I'm doing inspection and maintenance work, and I thought I'll be doing designing work in the office! But when I got to know more about this position, I realized that it is more about project management. And that is where my course Operation and Construction Management comes in.

Let me give you guys a short crash course of this subject. Basically, in all project management, there will be 2 parties, the client, and the contractor. The client is basically the owner of the project, and the contractor is hired by the client to do the work, like construction and all. Petronas do not do its own jobs. It always give out the work to the contractors to do the works that they are doing, and pay the contractors money to do the jobs. Therefore, I'm basically the client.

Before this, to me, being the client is rather easy. All the client have to do is to think how to allocate the money, and just tell the contractors what we want, and they cannot say no. Well, we are the client, we pay them. So technically we are their employers and you do not offend your employers. Sounds easy and cool huh? All you have to do is to order people around. Apparently not.

Being the client is not as easy as it seems. You give the contractor work, they demand this and that from you. Wah lau, tiring man. You tell them, go do this, they tell you, give me the drawings, give me the report, give me this, give me that. And there would be me, having to search high and low for these documents that they want. If not, they cannot do the work. Tiring sial.

Actually, after reading this what I've just wrote, I feel that what I've pen down here is rather meaningless. However, it's good that I've wasted your time to read all the nonsense that I've pen down. hahahaha

Yep, being lame again. Chao!
